Which one do you think is better? A. A person that has religion but corrupted their heart B. A person that does not have any religion but keep their heart pure?

B because a person doesn't have to believe in god to be a good person. As long as that person has a good heart, hes chill in my book.

According to the Catholic religion, if you don't believe in God, you go to Hell right? Ghandi? Ghandi's in Hell? o_o You don't need God (or any religion for that matter) to be a good person. Goodness comes from within (as cheesy as that sounds). Now religion may be a motivator, but if you use it as an excuse (ie:" I do this for the goodness of God"), then that's pathetic. Stop moochin' off of some deity's goodness and do it out of your own. There's a way yo be a good person and not help everyone you meet. Helping everyone you do, is good enough.

I would prefer B.

Hmmm ... About that hell thing ... I'm tempted to quote Bad Religion:
F*ck Armageddon, THIS IS HELL ...

and a second Bad Religion quote:
The Voice of God is Gouverment

Yes, I know that are song titles ... but I personally think, that the word god, is just the helpless try to define something that is ... too big to grasp with our feeble minds.

And more often then not, I expierienced scorne from those who thought to be [sarcasm=on} SOOO pure {/sarcasm}, but didn't know the laws of their own choosen belive (or religion if you want)

I also admit that I provoked some kind of reaction from those ...
But when the choice is between begging and laying Tarotcards for a gift... I choose the later and earn my keep.

And never forget: Mankind is a master in corupting essentialy good ideas and systems ...

B - I personally do not believe in God, "I don't believe that I need to get down on my knees, I don't believe that a voice from above can help me". I've seen too many so called priests and religious people that were only caring for money and other material earnings. So I say no to religion - on second thought it would be too difficult for me to believe all this as well...

hey, what if this religious person in question might in fact pervert a religion towards a better end. Take Buddha for example (although, honestly, a person who taught both that existence is suffering and one of the only ways to make it better is to have compassion i think is kind of a mixed bag.) To hinduists, it might seem a perversion of their faith, but to the buddhists, he might be someone who made sense of the ideals of an outdated religion. Please note that i have no idea if any of those people actually feel that way.

A perversion is a perversion ....
No matter to what end.

But extending already existing ideas, to new -and MAYBE better ends- is not a perversion.
Anyway such means usualy leads to perversion.

I know not enough about Hinduism and Budhism, to realy compare them.
But I know that they impregnated each other with ideas. Wich also led to animosities between them.

In my eyes the pervesion starts, when humans come along and commit acts of cruelty in the name of their religion. And religion has always been a most favored excuse for such things. (The Crusades for exsample)

as far as a perversion being a perversion, a perversion is a twisting, corruption, or distortion of something. the usual connotation a distortion of something good or normal into something bad. but that connotation is based on point of view.
