Sure Nintendo is innovative ... but they are somehow stuck in the casual players lane.
And that discusion about Sony's PS3 and the MS-XBoX360 is as old as those two systems.
My personal conclusion is: I can't afford neither one

... And now back on topic: My fave genre is also RPG ... but I won't deny I like FPS and strategy too.
Hmmm, mix 'em up ... possible result:
Final Fisher Tactics - Escape from Chocobo Country
Publisher: MS-Sontendo

if you get a ps3 or xbox 360, u should get borderlands, its an rpg shooter, also fall out 3 is really good too.

An X360 is, indeed, on my wishlist ...
especialy since FF XIII will be releasd on it ...

And Borderlands is just another reason that caught my eye.
I Just where in the shop to see the specs on a PC ... and it
turned out that it's WAY off my scale ^^

I'm also thought about getting Fallout 3 (for a console at least)
But till I saved me enough to get me a descent console,
I guess that both are Platinum/Special Sales

i'm an rpg gamer, definitely. all the stats, the leveling, the grind (oh, wait, not the grind) and especially how so many of them have such great plotlines. also probably because i'm so unskilled in the other genres, and i don't spend the time to get good at them. it would also help if i could actually afford to buy and play the latest gen of consoles.

I'm always with RPG no matter what. I hate FPS. OK, I know FPS is "First Person Shooter" but I like to mock it as "Frames Per Second" since those games are always emphasize on the frame rate to determine the performance of the game & the machine. Although I like RPG in general but bear in mind there are many types of RPG. There are Turn-based RPG (mostly Japanese RPG like Final Fantasies), Adventure RPG, Action RPG (or a hybrid of action-adventure RPG) there is also this Tactical RPG (close to FPS in nature). Not to mention we have MMORPG too. Turn-based RPG may be ridiculous in terms of real-world application but usually the game maker emphasize on the story inside which make it win by default and in return makes one to forget s/he is actually playing the "funny battle system" game. That's why I specifically like mostly Japanese RPG instead of western RPG.
